Books I Need to Read Before Hell Begins+ Reasons I’ve been absent and possibly ghosted by a donut sniper

I got swallowed by a large toad in Atlantis.

And a donut sniper-

Did that- did that work? Am I forgiven now?

Okay, let’s rewind that-

Hello, darlings!!! I hope that all of you little lovable, love saddened munchkins are doing as well as you can be, peacefully knowing that a great evil will forsake all of us come August and freedom will be lost, children will be abandoned to cannibal monstrosities made of steal walls and doors that talk, and the aesthetic of THE perfect summer will be kindly and unfortunately flushed down a clogged drain.

So the hope still rests above the surface, you know?

For my frivolous excuse (or excuses because if I’m consistent, I better be entertaining) as to why I was not able to bring my dramatic donut of a self (I just realized the hole in the middle of the donut represents the void left in my heart by all those fictional characters that got torn out of my soul and I don’t think I’ll ever be the same carefree, sleep depraved being again *sigh* *another sigh because whyever the heck not*) I shall bring forth a few options that won’t make me sound like I completely procrastinated posting in the Blogosphere for little over three weeks.

I love all of you.

My writing just does NOT like me.

(mainly my writing habits because I feel like I wake up with certain amount of words to write and I usually talk most of them out, so I have very limited few to jot down fjhvfghjk)

Excuse num. 1

~I started doing CampNaNo! Yes, as previously mentioned, I am indeed a procrastinating individual who right now is supposed to be writing 600 words out of my word count, but it’s currently 11:55, so I might as well continue with, right?? And the experience has been good!! I did start a few days left, probably because I was absolutely terrified of my perfectionism ruining literally everything, but I after I sacrificed some pebbles to Athena’s crumbling statue I got on to writing and… I actually enjoyed it? WHAT?! I know, I’m really shocked as well, pfft.

Up ahead comes a little snippet of the total opposites that I’ve written and have deemed decent to share-

“The sobs turn into a curious lilt of sound, making the air around me twinkle with invisible lights I’ve only begun to see.

Happiness, something in me whispers.

This is true happiness.

And now I get it. I feel it in every inch of skin uncovered by the scars I so willfully carved into my soul, that after the total cacophony of chaos that erupted within me a few moments ago, they all were for this.

Twinkles and laughter.

And a smile! My lips were smiling and grinning and the divots in my cheeks were getting deeper and happier, and oh, the emergence of all of this lends me a helping hand.

Not covered with a blood- red string, not a nostalgic crowing of Fear’s voice and Panic’s anthem.

A simple hand, with five fingers and a strong grip. Intact fingernails, riddled with sparkling gifts— these are my own. “

– a possible emotional Booksy after finishing a book.

VS.

-an emotionally intact (albeit half insane) Booksy

“I asked if you were okay.” His brow furrows as he makes a quick perusal of my body that’s so attractively coated with a resplendent sheen of sweat and sniffly from all the crying.

Goodness, I never asked to have these many sweat glands crowding my life, and right now they’re proving to be more of a hindrance than anything. I should definitely be walking down a runway; I would own the wet dog look without having to add the clothes.

“Oh- um,” why is he staring into my eyes, I already know he’s cute, no need to inflict further damage on my poor, defenseless retinas, “ well, yeah.”

Eloquence is my middle name.

So, it’s safe to say that my writing is all over the place, but psst… between you and me? I’m kind of enjoying it-

*runs to not jinx it*

*struts back*

*claps*

UNTO THE OTHER REASON:

(why do I always take so many social media breaks, SOMEONE STEAL MY PHONE PLEASE)

Excuse num. 2:

~I’ve been creating a Reading Journal!! It has taken time, sweat, tears and more than a few self threatening messages (from me to me, so so nice) for inspiration, BUT IT’S FINALLY DONE!! More information about that will soon be provided and fangirled over, because come on, a journal where you can MARK YOUR TBRS??? YOUR THOUGHTS??? MOODBOARDS AND AESTHETIC STUFF??? I am basically still dying over here, but feel free to scream with me!!

Excuse num. 3

~I’ve been crocheting so much I fear my fingers will literally grow legs and walk off a cliff to finally escape the misery I’ve blessed them with.

Excuse num. 4

~And finally!! Humans. Humans have messed with my reading/writing/ blogging life so spectacularly that I’m severely considering building an underground reading bunker with lots of snacks and hot chocolate.

Excuse num. 5

~Also, I’m thinking of remodeling the blog? hjkjghyuk

Now, since we got all that fabulousness out of the way, let’s get on with what’s really in this post, woot woot!!

That I actually need to read.

New Adult (literally first time I actually have a cluster of NA reads I’d like to read)

  1. Beach Read~

A romance writer who no longer believes in love and a literary writer stuck in a rut engage in a summer-long challenge that may just upend everything they believe about happily ever afters.

Augustus Everett is an acclaimed author of literary fiction. January Andrews writes bestselling romance. When she pens a happily ever after, he kills off his entire cast.

They’re polar opposites.

In fact, the only thing they have in common is that for the next three months, they’re living in neighboring beach houses, broke, and bogged down with writer’s block.

Until, one hazy evening, one thing leads to another and they strike a deal designed to force them out of their creative ruts: Augustus will spend the summer writing something happy, and January will pen the next Great American Novel. She’ll take him on field trips worthy of any rom-com montage, and he’ll take her to interview surviving members of a backwoods death cult (obviously). Everyone will finish a book and no one will fall in love. Really.

2. It Ends With Us~

Sometimes it is the one who loves you who hurts you the most.

Lily hasn’t always had it easy, but that’s never stopped her from working hard for the life she wants. She’s come a long way from the small town in Maine where she grew up — she graduated from college, moved to Boston, and started her own business. So when she feels a spark with a gorgeous neurosurgeon named Ryle Kincaid, everything in Lily’s life suddenly seems almost too good to be true.

Ryle is assertive, stubborn, maybe even a little arrogant. He’s also sensitive, brilliant, and has a total soft spot for Lily. And the way he looks in scrubs certainly doesn’t hurt. Lily can’t get him out of her head. But Ryle’s complete aversion to relationships is disturbing. Even as Lily finds herself becoming the exception to his “no dating” rule, she can’t help but wonder what made him that way in the first place.

As questions about her new relationship overwhelm her, so do thoughts of Atlas Corrigan — her first love and a link to the past she left behind. He was her kindred spirit, her protector. When Atlas suddenly reappears, everything Lily has built with Ryle is threatened.

3. The Wall of Winnipeg and Me~

Vanessa Mazur knows she’s doing the right thing. She shouldn’t feel bad for quitting. Being an assistant/housekeeper/fairy godmother to the top defensive end in the National Football Organization was always supposed to be temporary. She has plans and none of them include washing extra-large underwear longer than necessary.

But when Aiden Graves shows up at her door wanting her to come back, she’s beyond shocked.

For two years, the man known as The Wall of Winnipeg couldn’t find it in him to tell her good morning or congratulate her on her birthday. Now? He’s asking for the unthinkable.

What do you say to the man who is used to getting everything he wants?

The YA section!!

  1. Sometime in Summer~

From critically acclaimed author Katrina Leno comes a tender love letter to books and summertime, with a touch of magic.

Anna Lucia Bell believes in luck: bad luck. Bad luck made her best friend stop talking to her. Bad luck caused her parents’ divorce. Bad luck is forcing her mother, Miriam, to sell the family’s beloved bookstore. And it is definitely bad luck that Anna seems to be the only person in the world Miriam is unable to recommend a life-changing book.

When Anna finds out that she and her mom are spending two months in a New England seaside town called Rockport, she expects a summer plagued with bad luck too. But Rockport has surprises in store for Anna, including a comet making its first appearance in over twenty years and two new—but familiar—friends.

In what will prove to be the most important summer of her life so far, Anna learns about love, herself, and the magic that an ordinary summer can bring.

2. The Edge of Summer~

Fans of Sarah Dessen and Morgan Matson will be swept away by this big-hearted novel about one girl navigating first loss and first love during her summer on Cape Cod.

Saving the whales has been Coriander Cabot and her best friend Ella’s dream since elementary school. But when tragedy strikes, Cor is left to complete the list of things they wanted to accomplish before college alone, including a marine biology internship on Cape Cod.

Cor’s summer of healing and new beginnings turns complicated when she meets Mannix, a local lifeguard who completely takes her breath away. But she knows whatever she has with Mannix might not last, and that her focus should be on rescuing the humpback whales from entanglement. As the tide changes, Cor finds herself distracted and struggling with her priorities.

Can she follow her heart and keep her promise to the whales and her best friend?

3. The Charmed List~

After spending most of high school as the quiet girl, Ellie Kobata is ready to take some risks and have a life-changing summer, starting with her Anti-Wallflower List—thirteen items she’s going to check off one by one. She’s looking forward to riding rollercoasters, making her art Instagram public (maybe), and going on an epic road-trip with her best friend Lia.

But when number four on Ellie’s list goes horribly wrong—revenge on Jack Yasuda—she’s certain her summer has gone from charmed to cursed. Instead of a road trip with Lia, Ellie finds herself stuck in a car with Jack driving to a magical convention. But as Ellie and Jack travel down the coast of California, number thirteen on her list—fall in love—may be happening without her realizing it.

In The Charmed List, Julie Abe sweeps readers away to a secret magical world, complete with cupcakes and tea with added sparks of joy, and an enchanted cottage where you can dance under the stars.

That is all for today, my darlings!! I HOPE YOU HAVE THE BEST WEEK EVER- LIKE YES, MY LOVES- GET ITTTTTT

(get the TBR I mean, not a possible incaceration, unless you’d like to invite me)

Have you read any of these books? If so, opinions, feels??????
